Student comments on Normandy

Mary
We went to the Normandy beaches and got to splash in the English Channel. We got to walk through graves of the people who died in the d-day fight.

We went to graves of people who died in the D-day fight. We also splashed around in the English Channel. Then, we went to Pointe du Hoc which had bunkers where the Germans stayed. It had big craters and we went in them soon we will be going to a medieval fortress.

I like this tour. The D-day beaches are exciting. I like seeing the ruins of war machines and bunkers. It is fun to hang and relax with my friends. I am excited for tomorrow.

We went to the American Cemetery. It was really cool to see all the people who fought for our country. I found 2 people from Colorado. We also went done to the beaches the American fought on. We ran in the water. I got my jeans all wet. Then, we went to the bunkers. I loved crawling in the dark holes.

We visited the museum at Bayeux where we learned about the Allied invasion of Normandy, then we walked around the American cemetery and Point du Hoc where the U.S Ranger battalion spear headed the attack on the German defensive positions. It was amazing to see the ground still marked by artillery fire. The American cemetery honors the 10,000 American soldiers who lost their lives in the invasion.
